Over the Weekend - November 15

Started the weekend with a trip to PetsMart on Friday night. Yes, those are hamsters my husband is looking at. No, I wasn't thrilled about getting one. Oh the things you do for your kids.
Back at home setting up "Buddy's" new cage.
The leaves and trees have already changed colors. My front crepe myrtles have gone from a beautiful purple to a gorgeous orange. I love these trees no matter what season.

Had lunch with our favorite cousins. Major pigging out happened.
Steak and pasta
Fresh homemade pumpkin ravioli with brown butter sage sauce (Also bought some to cook at home, was that good!)
Hot pastrami with extra pickles and mustard.
Then ended our feast with banana splits.
Sunday I jumped the gun and took out my Christmas bins.
I mainly wanted to hang our stockings. The mantel isn't quite complete yet. I added a garland and have something in mind for the right side of the mantel, but I would say it is looking just how I want it to.
Had to get these two items! Purple eos and how stinking cute is this donut ornament?! They also had a mint green and white but the pink donuts have always been my favorite.

Also, Happy Veteran's Day! Hope you all had a great weekend! Still waiting on a few pieces for master bedroom makeover, so reveal post will be up soon.

Over the weekend

Posted on my Instagram about this guy I scored on clearance at Target. Took the opportunity to cut the beautiful tea roses blooming alongside my garden and fill him up!

Then decided he looked better here.
On Saturday, we picnicked at the park, fed the ducks then went antiquing. Fell in love with this set of lamps. If only I had a place to put them.
I am a complete sucker for cookbooks, I collect them really. One day I would love to have a wall full of cook books in my kitchen. Crazy, I know. The Jackie O book I bought for my mom. She loves her (so much that she named me after her). They were both in perfect condition, looks like they had never even been flipped through!

Baked this delicious and EASY raisin walnut bread. Only difficult part in this recipe is waiting for the bread to rise.
A snipet of my little Fireman on Halloween the Thursday before. He had so much fun "trick or treacking" :)

Master bedroom Makeover - small updates

Set up my dresser. Love having all my precious mementos out on display.

Received this chic Chanel tray from trays chic. Had so much fun styling it. It fits perfectly on my nightstand. A tray is the best way to organize all the items we keep at our bedside. Mine doesn't always look so neat, but this gorgeous tray is great for collecting my handcream, lip balm and of course tv remote. Check out her shop, she always posts pics of her latest items on Instagram @oohlalafinds
Ordered these gourd night stand lamps from Overstock. Had a hard time finding something I liked, didn't want black or brass. I wanted to in cooperate more white into the room, and these will do just that. Hope they're not too tall though.
The star of the room, the beautiful crystal three tiered chandelier. It really gives the room that glamorous touch. I find myself just staring at it. The facets are especially beautiful when dimmed.

A more detailed post is coming soon. Waiting on a few more items.

Master Bedroom Makeover

Since being in the new house, I've mainly focused on the front rooms you see when you first walk in: dining room and living room. Luckily, Ollie's room was in ok condition in regards to paint color. The master bedroom on the other hand needed some much needed TLC.

Pictures below

Dry, chipped paint and ugly ceiling fan

No explanation necessary

Ikea shelves placed in an awkward spot (I just placed my shoes here, wasn't concerned on how it looked as I was not by any means trying to decorate it yet. (and yes that is my build a bear hello kitty)

Previous owners had bed facing backyard and since the wall wasn't large enough for bed and nightstands, they hung these lights.

Facing wall

In addition to fresh paint, we are also ripping out the old carpet in the closet, changing the light fixture (pretty crystal tiered chandelier!), new bedside lamps (need ideas), and curtains, headboard, the list could go on, but I'm stopping myself there.

Updates are happening this week, so if you're interested in seeing the progress, be sure to check back soon!

Updated Dining Room

In my last blog post, I gave you a sneak peek on my dining room progress. Here are some updated pictures.
I've always liked how dining rooms look with a buffet in center flanked by two chairs. Wasn't sure if it was possible as my dining room isn't entirely huge, but turns out I do have enough room! Once these chairs are upholstered they are really going to pop against the white walls. I have my eyes and heart set on a piece of art for the wall above my buffet. Anniversary gift maybe? ;)

(This was taken before walls were painted)
Love the purple crepe myrtle that peeks in front of dining room window.

Dining Room Makeover

It's almost one month we have been in our new home now, and wow is moving so much work. First project up is the dining room. When we first saw this house it had a wood china hutch mounted to the wall. I immediately knew I would be taking it down, and that FINALLY happened last weekend. Yay!!

Here are some before pictures of the dining room progress and a little sneak peek of the after.
